XR practice & training

Universum Media helps festivals and cultural venues bring immersive work to audiences. We combine experience in VR/XR exhibitions with cultural production, business process improvement and research into immersive media.

From a visitor’s first encounter with a headset to the coordination behind an exhibition, our focus is on making immersive experiences welcoming, well organised and reliable.

Exhibitions & audience experience

Our experience spans immersive programmes at IDFA DocLab, NFF Digital Culture, Cinekid MediaLab, Dutch Design Week, Imagine Film Festival and ITW Church of VR.

Our practical expertise includes:

• Introducing visitors to VR and supporting first-time users.
• Briefing and coordinating international volunteer teams.
• Working with production and technical crews to keep installations running.
• Resolving technical and operational issues during public programmes.
• Gathering audience feedback to inform research and improve delivery.

Production & operations

Our production experience covers multidisciplinary cultural events, concert filming and the presentation of immersive installations.

We coordinate across creative, technical and operational teams, with particular attention to scheduling, production handovers and practical workflows. Experience supporting test sessions and preparations for year-round immersive programming informs our understanding of how exhibitions can operate beyond the festival setting.

XR host training — in development

We are developing practical training for the people who welcome audiences into immersive experiences. Drawing on festival practice and Lean principles, the programme aims to strengthen visitor onboarding, team coordination, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

The training starts with the everyday work of hosts: helping visitors feel comfortable, responding to unexpected situations and creating the conditions for the artwork to be experienced.
